Honoring Bruce Chisolm: Dedicated Member of Volunteer Hose Co. No. 2 for Community and Service in Black History Month

The Village Board had the privilege of honoring incredible members of our community in recognition of Black History Month. These individuals have shown exceptional leadership and have made a lasting impact in the Village of West Haverstraw.

Bruce Chisolm, moved to West Haverstraw 11 years ago with his wife and three children. He immediately set out to make a difference and joined the West Haverstraw Fire Department. His passion for assisting others didn't stop when becoming a firefighter, he continued with his training and became a member of the department's FAST team which requires vigorous training. During a time when volunteering across the nation has seen a drastic decline, especially in emergency services, Bruce has stepped up and is heavily involved in recruiting, fire prevention, and retention.

Bruce is known to be the best neighbor anyone can have, always looking out for his neighbors and we couldn't agree more!
