DID YOU KNOW?: National Fire Prevention Week is observed in the United States and Canada during the week, in which October 9 falls. In the United States, the first Presidential Proclamation of Fire Prevention Week was made in 1925 by President Calvin Coolidge.
Today October 4th, 2023, Volunteer Hose Company #2 gave a fire prevention demonstration to the staff and children at Haverstraw Daycare Learning Center in West Haverstraw. The children loved seeing our firefighter (pictured, Mike Perri) demonstrating the drop and roll method and various equipment. But the highlight of the day for the kids is being able to put their hands on the fire nozzle to see the water shoot out under supervision.
This is the first stop for in town for fire prevention, we will be visiting the seniors meeting at the village gymnasium tomorrow and more to follow.
