Firefighter Spotlight of the Month: February 2024 Jose Castro

Jose Castro is a proud member of the West Haverstraw Volunteer Hose Company #2. Having grown up in the area and having gone to North Rockland High School, his early life was kicked off by being part of the high school varsity football team. His football coach provided him with guidance and mentorship to encourage Jose to pursue higher education. That's exactly what Jose did. After acquiring his GED, Jose joined the FDNY and started his dream career as a firefighter. They say that when you love what you do, you do it well. Thus in October 2022, Jose and two of his cohorts in FDNY (also from Rockland County) made the headlines when they were involved in a roof-rope rescue in Washington Heights of Manhattan.

"It was surreal definitely surreal. It's something you train for, you dream about. Most people that become firefighters it's what we want to do. We want to make an impact, save a life and make a difference in someone's life and it's definitely a heartwarming feeling to make that difference." - Jose Castro

On top of being involved in fire service, Jose also owns Top 2 Bottom Home Inspections.

We are grateful for having Jose as part of our team.
