Tonight our company performed a join drill with Department 9 in New City. The purpose of the drill was to familiarize both companies on the FAST team proceedings. Members started by examining both the brand new 23-Rescue and 9-Squad to learn the different compartments of the vehicles. Next, the officers of both companies gave an overview on the different tools that are used during a FAST call which are the FAST board, search ropes and RIT pack. After the officers gave a demonstration on how the FAST board is used, some of the members were able to utilize the stairs in the back of the fire house to practice with their own revolutions of using the FAST board. The drill was very successful and now the members of both companies are more comfortable with FAST calls and how to effectively and quickly transport a downed firefighter out of a building.
