NYS DMV Incident May 30th, 2024

On May 30th, 2024 at 5:28 P.M., the West Haverstraw Fire Department was dispatched to an automatic alarm at the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle office. Upon arrival of the first fire units, the call was upgraded to smoke in the building as multiple workers reported smoke throughout the office. Units entered the building searching for the fire source which later proved to be a malfunctioning HVAC unit. After ventilating the smoke condition throughout the office all units were back in service within the hour. No injuries were reported.
