On Monday January 13th 2012 The Village of West Haverstraw was rocked with a terrible tragedy. A Gas explosion leveled a 2 story dwelling sending several Firefighters and an Orange and Rockland Technician to the Hospital. Among the most criticaally injured were Volunteer Hose's own Captain Kenny Patterson and Training Officer Gerry Knapp. Both were taken to Westchester County Medical Center. Fourtunatly Gerry was able to be treated and released from the ER the same day. Saddly the same could not be said for our Captain who had to be admitted to the WMC ICU. Kenny suffered Burns to the face and head , a broken collar bone, and several broken ribs. We hope to have him out of the ICU this weekend and possibly home with his family early next week. Our Volunteer Hose Family asks that you keep Kenny, Gerry and all the others who were injured in this horriffic incident in you prayers.
